Football academy celebrates new lead sponsor

Wednesday 30 October 2024

St Peter's Academy has secured a new lead sponsor to help it continue to provide first-class coaching to 250 young players into the senior game.

Following discussions between the club and Patrick O’Connor, the CEO of Gatekeeper, a Jersey-based software business, a four-year agreement was reached.

"Invaluable" help

The club's President, Peter Fleury, commented: “I am sure I speak for everyone at St Peter FC in saying that we look forward to working with Patrick O’Connor and the Gatekeeper team.

"The support they will provide the club is invaluable in helping us maintain and hopefully improve our offering to the record number of young players that we now have at St Peter FC.

"The fact that Patrick lives in the parish gives an added value to having Gatekeeper as a sponsor and supporter of our club, I hope this is the start of a long and mutually beneficial association for both parties.”

A "special moment"

St Peter's Academy is one of the oldest on the island, coaching 12 teams, including girls, with around 20 local coaches.

Patrick O’Connor added: “Partnering with St Peter FC Academy is a special moment for Gatekeeper.

"As a local business, we feel a strong responsibility to give back to the community, and supporting an organisation that impacts the lives of so many young people is incredibly meaningful to us.

"The academy’s work with young players offers them the opportunity to enhance their football skills and build essential life skills that will benefit them long after they leave the pitch. We look forward to seeing these young athletes thrive and are excited about the future for both the academy and Gatekeeper in this partnership.”
