Christmas may feel a little different this year, but the Genuine Jersey Products Association of artisan elves have been busy working away, creating an abundance of Christmas stock so you get an early start on your shopping! Decorate your homes this winter with handmade textile Christmas decorations from Katie’s Shed and laser cut wood designs from the team at All About Love. Add some woodland foliage into the fold with one of Wild Thyme’s stunning winter floral wreaths, prefect for doors or as a feature piece in any room. Why not join in with one of Clara’s workshops and learn to make one of her intricate wreaths all by yourself?! Finish the table setting with some of Jo Logue’s colourful mandala stones and painted seashells, guaranteed to add vibrancy in any colour palette imaginable.
New to Genuine Jersey for Christmas this year is skin care brand Jersey Skin, who offer a full range of products including pillow mists, moisturisers and shampoo bars, all using sustainable and ethically sourced local ingredients such as Jersey sea salt, beeswax and lavender. Genuine Jersey are also joined by JOY woodcrafts who incorporate artwork onto offcuts of wood to create stunning wooden chopping boards. The Association hosts a wide range of artisans from the detailed ink drawings from Abi Overland to the ceramic panels of Haithwaite Ceramics. For more traditional fine art, search out the Jersey landscapes and wildlife paintings of Rosemary Blackmore or add a photograph of one of Jersey’s most iconic scenes to your home from a selection by experienced photographer Sheila Birch.
There really is something locally made for everyone this Christmas with Madd Beard Co. teaching men the importance of grooming with their handmade beard and moustache waxes and oils using locally foraged ingredients. For the little ones in your life there are the handmade felted toys from Skaapie or the popular stories of Captain Rupert, a pilot and his trusted dog who live at the Aero Club, courtesy of local author Alan Jefferies.
A range of Genuine Jersey artisans’ gifts will be showcased at the Harbour Gallery as part of its ‘Genuine Jersey Traditional Christmas’ exhibition, as well as at Creative Cottage in St Peter and at the Small Business Pop-ups in Liberty Wharf. Genuine Jersey stalls will also be appearing on King Street every Friday and Saturday in the run up to Christmas.
